If you’ve heard of Epidaurus, it is likely to be because of what is “possibly the most beautiful open-air, ancient theatre in the world, the birthplace of Psychagogia, meaning entertainment – in the fullest sense of the word. The marble theatre of Epidaurus was built as a place for patients to have therapeutic fun and has become renowned for its extraordinary acoustics.” If you go there today you must listen to a penny dropping on the stage from the highest rafters of the 14,000-place stadium.
Another activity we highly recommend is to visit the ELL1A olive groves, where two delicious Extra Virgin Olive Oils are produced. This family-owned olive grove, by the Galanis family, follows the best practices that guarantee high quality and insuperable taste. They cultivate olive trees of Manaki & Koroneiki variety. Also in their land, grown many wild olives since 1945. Produced from hand-picked olives, sorted on the field, and taken to the mill the same day where they are processed under cold extraction, ELL1A produces a monovarietal early harvested Manaki EVOO and a more robust blend of mainly wild olives, with early harvested Manaki and Koroneki olives.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil From Wild Olives
This unique extra virgin olive oil is a blend of mostly wild olives with Manaki and Koroneiki olives, that grow in the olive groves of the Galanis family in Ancient Epidaurus. Olive oil from wild olives is hard to find and valuable because it contains a plethora of antioxidants (hydroxytyrosol) that are beneficial to human health. Its high content of antioxidants protects blood lipids from oxidative stress and therefore promotes good heart health. Studies have also shown that it inhibits the development of certain types of cancer and has a strong anti-inflammatory effect.
It has been awarded the Bronze Standard of Excellence for High Phenolic Extra Virgin Olive Oil at The Olympia Health & NutriXon Awards of the World Olive Center.
Aromatic profile:
Intense fruity with aromatic notes of freshly cut grass, tomato, olive leaves, artichoke and green almond. From its taste emerge aromas of tomato, chicory and nuts. With a medium-intensity bitter and a more intense spicy sensation in the throat, this unique EVOO will awake your taste buds and offer you an unforgettable tasting experience.
Ideally pairs with:
Tomato salads, green salads with leafy vegetables, raw vegetables, boiled or steamed vegetables, white and red casserole meats, BBQs (beef, lamb, pork, chicken, etc.), fish soup, pizza, risotto, semi-hard and smoked cheeses, legumes, soups, tomato sauce, chocolate desserts.
Early Harvest Manaki Extra Virgin Olive Oil
ELL1A Early Harvest, is of Manaki variety. The olives are harvested in early October when they are still green. The olive oil produced is of low acidity, rich in antioxidants, a strong green fruity aroma, and has a complex sensory profile.
It is the winner of the Gold Quality Award at the Berlin Global Olive Oil Awards 2021 and has been awarded the Bronze Standard of Excellence for High Phenolic Extra Virgin Olive Oil at The Olympia Health & NutriXon Awards at the World Olive Center.
